BMW Z4 - G29 (2018 – present) Rear Bumper Removal

Here's how to remove the rear bumper cover.
Preliminary Work
1 – Removing the luggage compartment floor trim panel
Raise the luggage compartment floor trim panel (1) at the red and remove from the luggage compartment.
2 – Removing the luggage compartment light
RISK OF DAMAGE
Scratches.
Tools and sharp-edged components can cause scratches.
Protect working area.
Handle tools and components carefully.
Remove the luggage compartment light (1) with the special tool 0 496 569 (00 9 325).
Disconnect associated connector.
3 – Removing the loading edge trim
Loosen the expanding rivet (1).
Unclip the loading edge trim (2) upwards our of the clamps (3).
Slide the loading edge trim (2) out on the tailgate seal and remove.
4 – Remove left and right luggage compartment wheel arch panels

NOTICE
Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details.
Unclip covers (1) of lashing eyes (2).
Release screws (3) of lashing eyes (2).
Open expanding rivet (4) of bag hook.

Loosen the expanding rivet (1).
Swivel the lower luggage compartment wheel arch panel (2) inwards and remove.

Loosen the expanding rivet (1).
Swivel the lower luggage compartment wheel arch panel (2) inwards and remove.
5 – Removing rear light on the left and right side panel
NOTICE
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
▶ Remove the rear light on the side panel
Loosen the trim in the water channel (3) from the pins (1) towards the top.
Release the trim in the water channel (3) from the guides (2) and remove it.
Loosen nuts (1).
Loosen nut (1).
Unlock and disconnect connector (2).
Remove the rear light (3) from the guides (4) towards the rear.
6 – Remove rear bumper panel
NOTICE
Perform the operations on the left and right side.
Loosen screws (1).
NOTICE
Perform the operations on the left and right side.
Turn the wheel arch cover (1) slightly away as shown.
Loosen screws (2).
NOTICE
Perform the operations on the left and right side.
Loosen the expanding rivet (1).
Loosen screws (2).
Loosen screws (1).
NOTICE
Perform the operations on the left and right side.
Release bumper panel (1) from the latch mechanisms in the area of the dotted line.
Loosen the bumper panel (1) from the remaining latch mechanisms and pull towards the rear.
